FORESTS OF PEACE

I love the wind
I sway and soar
I am safely locked with the ground
While the gusts persist
The leaves insist
That now they are no longer bound
They distance themselves
Like precious sea shells
All scattered and thrown all around
They are the trees
Waving their branches
The forest, it dances
And all that they know
Are the echoed romances
The carvings of lovers
Drawn into their covers
And even though
They can’t get another
They still continue to sway
And to soar
The leaves of the spring
Are too hard to ignore
They’re the trees
Oh, the decades they’ve seen
They’re the trees
Oh, how peaceful they seem
They’re the trees
All enduring the breeze
They, are the trees…
